BLUE LAB Family Day Care BALDIVIS
Meet Raewyn and Narcisse
Both Narcisse and I have been involved and around children for many years, myself (Raewyn) have trained and work with children for 16 years. Married for 28 years and the proud mother of 4 children, to work alongside Narcisse is truly rewarding.
I have been operating the family daycare from my own home in Baldivis for 6 years, I then passed the reigns over to Narcisse. We now share the operation of the daycare in a new premises, where Narcisse now resides.
Perth has been home to us for 10 years since moving from New Zealand with our family. Both Narcisse and I are of Maori descent, the Maori are the indigenous race of New Zealand, where the Maori language and culture is cherished and upheld in many honorable ways.
We are therefore privileged to offer invitations to all, as we teach the children our language, traditions and culture. We also support our families with an understanding of how our philosophy or whakawhanaungatanga (togetherness) works with our unique mannerisms and understandings.
We are bilingual
He kohanga reo tenei mo o tatou tamariki, ahakoa ko wai. Nau mai, haere mai e te iwi Maori, e nga momo tangata katoa ki the ako, i to tatou reo rangatira me ana tikanga. E nga matua, ko te reo Maori, he taonga mo ake tonu, kia kahore ai e ngaro.
We speak Māori in this center. This is great for english-speaking kids if you want them to start learning a second language at the best possible age. And a must for kids with māori-speaking parents, to avoid this language to be forgotten.

Know how well do we do
A top-notch service for you!
BLUE LAB has gone through the NQS rating process by the Education and Care Regulatory Unit.
The rating measures the quality of any Early Childhood Service in Australia. It examines seven areas and scores them within a four-scale system: Needs improvement, Working Towards, Meeting, and Exceeding what is expected.
BLUE LAB has scored 5 Meeting and 2 Exceeding. These last ones were in Relationship with Children and Collaborative with Families, where it really matters.
But how good our score is? Is just good… or really good?
Our philosophy is based on providing nurturing care and attention as well as supporting the children to work as a community of learners. We speak Te Reo Maori to the children, which is an official language of New Zealand Aotearoa. We also embrace the Maori culture as we expose the children to experiences that are much like that of our homeland.
We want to preserve the Maori language for the children here in Perth, who even if in a foreign land are still able to enjoy the benefits of a Maori inspired environment, influence and aroha (love).
We support our families (whanau) with a deep understanding, trust and initiative to provide holistic care for the family as a whole.
We applaud the Reggio Emilia approach as it encompasses natural curiosity and problem solving exploration. This is much alike to the ways in which New Zealand Maori were raised and thrived.
We both believe in equipping the children with the tools they need to excel and develop as a ‘community of learners’ and we set up the house with care and attention towards creating an environment of learning and wonder..
